Portainer

Overview

Applying Portainer for Docker management.

Role/Responsibilities

Studied Container management platform technologies to apply for more systematic and efficient Docker management.

Problems/Challenges

Servers with a large number of Frontend and Backend components require multiple containers, making management difficult. Traditional Docker management using the command line is inconvenient and prone to errors. Finding a good and systematic management method to mitigate these issues is a challenge.

Design Concept

Researched Container management platforms to address the existing problems. Based on the research, Portainer was chosen for container management due to its ease of use and free availability.

Features

  • Stack: Ability to create multiple interconnected containers for application deployment.
  • Container: Used to create individual containers.
  • Image: Manages images for use with containers.
  • Network: Manages networks for use with containers.
  • Volume: Manages volumes for use with containers.

Outcome

Implementing Portainer for overall Docker management has made container management convenient and easy through a browser interface. It allows efficient management of various resources such as network and volume. Additionally, it provides a real-time overview of Docker resource usage, reducing problems and making operations more systematic.
